What is Balayage?
Balayage is a free-hand highlighting technique where hair lightener is applied in a sweeping motion to create highlights. The technique results in really soft, seamless colour that lightens towards the ends of the hair. It looks stunning and is a great way to add some dimension to darker hair.
While balayage can be done on natural or relaxed hair, it looks amazing on hair extensions. The extra length and volume adds some glamour and is a fun way to change up one’s look, while being a low-manipulation style.
This is truly the best option for clients who want to enjoy a lighter shade without colouring their natural hair. It’s very easy to maintain as well.
So you’ve decided to get balayage at TAUPE; now what? Here is a step by step guide:
- Purchase your extensions (click here) that you want balayage’d and bring them into the salon. We recommend either the Kinky Straight or Yaki Straight hair extensions. These are very popular amongst our clients because the blend is seamless and the balayage looks better. Balayage can be done for your LA Weave, tape-ins, microlinks and even sew in weave install.
- Have the extensions highlighted at TAUPE. If you’re unsure of the colour you want, TAUPE offers a “colour consultation” where we advise clients on the best shade and tone for their desired look.
- Book an appointment to have the extensions installed.
- Have your hair styled for some more glam. We recommend booking the “Extension Silk Press & Styling” option for clients with natural hair who have microlinks, tape-ins or LA Weave extensions when you book your hair for styling. If your hair is naturally straight or relaxed, we recommend selecting the “Extensions Blow Dry & Styling” option for clients with sew-in weaves, microlinks or LA Weave or Tape-ins as well as clients with wigs.
- Be a “Hot Girl” all summer!
